Global Market Update - April 2025

April 23, 2025

Global Freight Forwarding - April 2025

April saw a significant shift in global trade dynamics, with the U.S. administration introducing broad tariffs that continue to impact international markets. The Trump Administration announced a universal 10% tariff on all imports, alongside higher “reciprocal” tariffs targeting over 60 countries, including a 145% rate on Chinese goods. These measures have prompted swift retaliatory actions, with China escalating its tariffs on U.S. imports to 125%, while other nations reassess their trade strategies in response to the ever-changing landscape.

Crane Worldwide Logistics remains committed to providing timely updates through our updated trade advisory newsfeed and strategic solutions to help you navigate these evolving trade conditions. Foreign Trade Zones

What is a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ)? Usually located within or near a port, an FTZ is a secure, designated location outside of Customs territory for the purpose of duty payment. It is a powerful method for importers to reduce costs, improve cash flow, and streamline operations. An FTZ allows for the deferment, reduction, and in some cases, elimination of customs duties on imported goods, providing a competitive advantage to businesses operating within one.

FTZs offer added flexibility as goods can be stored, assembled, or manufactured within the zone without instantly triggering duty payment.

Crane Worldwide can help you explore the benefits of integrating an FTZ into your supply chain. We offer strategic warehousing across various key locations in the United States as well as three FTZs in Houston, Dallas, and Laredo

Our trade advisory team provides expert guidance from activation to compliance, ensuring your operations are optimized and secure.
