Around the world, our employees take part in local events to support charities that provide services to those in need, making a difference in our communities.
Crane Cares is driven by our employees at a local level; donations, participation, and active involvement in community projects and charities enable our employees to make a difference in the areas where they live. Coming together as a team can make a great difference in our communities, giving back by way of support and contribution is an important part of our corporate culture.
In 2024, our global team will continue to focus efforts on Food Insecurity. Since 2019 there has been a 10% increase in undernourishment, and over 800 million people are hungry worldwide. Factors that contribute are inequality, poverty, conflict, climate change, disasters, and one we are all so recently familiar with, pandemics. There are 14 million children malnourished, and 45% of child deaths result from hunger; 700 children die each day from dirty water and unhygienic living conditions. Together we can make a difference.
Crane Cares provides a framework for our own employees to drive initiatives in their local areas with partners and charities. Crane Cares includes three tranches:
GIVE WORLDWIDE: Our commitment to our communities. Our employees globally are involved in activities that reflect our commitment to our communities and supporting the poor, sick and those impacted by disasters. Recent examples include major recycling initiatives, volunteering at orphanages, donating to hospitals, collecting school supplies, meals for homeless children and donating time and money to aid flood and hurricane disaster victims.
GREEN WORLDWIDE: Our commitment to our environment. Through Green Worldwide, we have taken part in recycling initiatives globally, cleaned beaches in South America, maintained gardens in India and planted trees in the United Kingdom and helped clean up communities in North America.
LIVE WELL WORLDWIDE: Our commitment to the wellness and safety of our employees. We promote a healthy lifestyle to our employees around the world through wellness initiatives focused on physical activity, stress management and mental health, healthy eating and personal safety. We promote high employee engagement and comfortable working relationships.
Crane Cares is responding with a sense of urgency to the humanitarian aid requirements on the borders of Ukraine.
In partnership with the Polish Medical Association, Crane Cares set up a fundraiser to support the medical aid requirements of the charity.
All funds donated were received directly by the charitable institution in order to purchase urgent medical supplies and provide support to refugees of Ukraine.
In addition, supplies have been collected by a number of our stations and transported directly to charities in Poland and into Ukraine with partnering organizations.
Many thanks to our employees, clients and partners who have contributed to our efforts.
Crane Worldwide Logistics in Amsterdam recently partnered with the Salvation Army to cook and distribute food in a local day centre. It was a humbling experience for all involved. "By participating in this Crane Cares event, it made us all realize how fortunate we are to have enough food on our plates".
Crane Worldwide London Heathrow recently launched an event to raise funds to sponsor a family room at Ronald McDonald House UK. A raffle, silent auction and fun games raised over £10,000 to sponsor the room our colleague stayed in whilst his child was being treated at the local hospital. A half marathon was also run by a member of the team to top up the fundraising efforts.
Crane Worldwide Australia has joined in sponsoring a local Perth AFL football Club in the development of an indigenous playing jumper. Ocean Ridge Amateur Football Club, “Eagles,” will wear this jumper for all indigenous rounds and as an away strip. The design has come from a group of indigenous players and local elders based on the history of the local area.
Our Crane Cares team members in Atlanta regularly volunteer at the local food bank. Activities include sorting through non-perishable items and preparing packages that are distributed to families in need.
