Mexico Tariff Increases

The Mexican Government decrees tariff hikes ranging from 5% to 50% on over 544 goods.

April 22, 2024, the ‘Decree amending the Tariff of the Law on General Import and Export Taxes’ was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation. This temporary measure is in force from April 23, 2024, to April 23, 2026.

Purpose of the Decree

  • Provide fair market conditions for sectors of the domestic industry
  • Reaffirms the tariff benefit of the Sector Promotion Program (PROSEC) that promotes subheadings of the electrical, electronic, automotive, and auto parts industries sectors.
