Imports of Aluminum From Canada: Update

On October 27, the President issued a proclamation on adjusting imports of aluminum into the United States, reinstating Canada’s exclusion from the additional 10% duties under Section 232 on certain non-alloyed unwrought aluminum articles.

Effective with goods entered for consumption, or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption, on or after 12:01 a.m. September 1, 2020, importers are no longer required to declare HTS 9903.85.21 on imports for non-alloyed unwrought aluminum articles that are a product of Canada as described in 7601.10.  However, goods entered prior to September 1, 2020 are still subject to the additional duties under 9903.85.21.
