GSP Suspension for Thailand

GSP Suspension for Thailand

Via Executive Order 11844 of March 24, 1975, Thailand was designated as a beneficiary developing country for purposes of the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP), affording Thailand preferential duty-free treatment.

President Trump has determined that Thailand has not assured the US that they will provide equitable and reasonable access to its markets. It was determined in 2019 certain beneficiary developing countries exported eligible articles in quantities exceeding the applicable competitive need limitations.   It has, therefore, been deemed appropriate to suspend the duty-free treatment accorded under the GSP program to certain eligible articles that are the product of Thailand, effective December 30, 2020.
