International Freight Forwarding News - February 2025

With the new administration firmly in place in the United States, and inevitable changes to the international trade landscape, 2025 continues to see potential turbulence in the supply chains of many organizations.

From import trade tariffs to geopolitcal changes, forecasted demand may prove to be more challenging to predict than expected in several industries.

At Crane Worldwide, our international trade experts are providing the latest information in our Trade Advisory updates, available online. If you are interested in learning more about our trade advisory services from Duty Drawback to Tariff Engineering, please don't hesitate to reach out to your local Crane Worldwide representative or get in touch directly to learn more.

Key market updates this month:

  • The East and Gulf coast port strike was called off earlier this month and a master agreement has now been ratified by the ILA and USMX with a six year deal.
  • With the new administration in the United States, tariff implications will impact importers. Crane Worldwide is releasing the latest information via our online trade advisory notices

  • Ocean carriers will not return to the Red Sea and Suez Canal until there is a full and permanent ceasefire between Israel and Hamas according to sources.
  • The ongoing strike action, which is centered on severance pay disputes, at Rotterdam's Hutchison Ports-owned ECT Delta terminal has led Dutch union FNV Havens to call for European ports to refuse handling ships diverted from Rotterdam.
  • Congestion at Vancouver's west coast gateway is expected to worsen due to a combination of restricted access to inland rail links and unreliable liner schedules amid ongoing alliance reshufflings.
