Cyclonic Storm Biparjoy in India - UPDATE

Further to our earlier advisories regarding extremely severe cyclone warning for Pipavav and Mundra coast, please find below the latest situation. 

Tropical cyclone Biparjoy weakens with vessel operations gradually turning back to normal.

Rail Services ex Inland: 

  • Rail movement of Loading for Pipavav has been lifted. 
  • Restriction on rail movement of Containers to Mundra have been lifted. 
  • Due to heavy pipeline, EXIM movement will be slow for both Pipavav and Mundra Pipavav: - Port operation is running smoothly.

Terminals update: 

  • Mundra: Port Operation has resumed operation and is accepting vessels at all berths.
  • Pipavav: Port operation is running smoothly.
  • Hazira: Hazira port is normalized and are working normal.
  • Nhava Sheva : As on today no stoppage in operations.

Though port operations are normal, there would be vessel delays or omission, please check with your respective  customer service / account managers who would guide you with further information on vessel schedules or any other alternatives.
 


UPDATE 19th June

Further to our earlier advisory regarding the severe cyclone warning for Pipavav and Mundra coast, please find below the latest situation.

Rail Services ex Inland:

  • Rail movement restriction of Loading for Pipavav Port is withdrawn with immediate effect.
  • Train movement situation for Mundra remains unchanged.

Port Update

At the moment, we have received the following update concerning the ports in India:

  • Mundra:  Port has resumed operation from 0600 hrs today and is accepting vessels at all berths
  • Pipavav: Pleased to inform that operation in Pipavav terminal has started.
  • Hazira: Adani Hazira terminal has resumed operation from 0230hrs / 17th June.
  • Nhava sheva : As of today no stoppage in operations.

UPDATE 15th June, 2023

Cyclone Biparjoy

Cyclone Biparjoy is travelling over the Arabian Sea. It has been categorized as “extremely severe” by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), which is the second highest category used by IMD to classify tropical storms. 

We had previously shared details on the resulting impact on ports along the west coasts of India and Pakistan where the cyclone will be making landfall. Mundra port and Pipavav port have completely suspended all operations until the storm passes.

Hazira Port and Port Qasim remain operational for now but continue to monitor weather conditions to determine continuation or stoppage of operations.

We had previously shared details on the resulting impact on ports along the west coasts of India and Pakistan where the cyclone will be making landfall.

Mundra port and Pipavav port have completely suspended all operations until the storm passes. Hazira Port and Port Qasim remain operational for now but continue to monitor weather conditions to determine continuation or stoppage of operations. 
At the moment, we have received the following update concerning ports in India:

  • Mundra: adverse weather is predicted until June 15, 2023. Port operations suspended and being reviewed every 6 hours. Vessel, road and rail operations completely stopped.
  • Pipavav: port operations suspended until June 14, 2023 and being reviewed regularly.
  • Hazira: port operations continue and may stop depending on the weather situation.
  • Nhava sheva : As on today no stoppage in operations.

UPDATE: 12th June, 2023

Please be advised that India Metrological Department - IMD has issued an extremely severe cyclone warning for Pipavav and Mundra coast in India.

The Cyclonic Storm "Biparjoy" is expected to make land fall 13th June. Therefore ports & terminals situated on these coasts have taken appropriate measures to deal with the situation.

Pipavav: 
Pipavav port has suspended all its Quay side operations. Port is continue to monitor the situation & go for a review on/around 13th June once the cyclone is clear.

Mundra: 
Mundra terminal has allowed inwards for Berthing however as all the vessels had moved out of the Mundra port limits, currently there is no vessel at berth in Mundra.

Nhava Sheva / Hazira: IMD has issued a warning for Nhava Sheva / Hazira also, however, as of today there is no stoppage of operations.
