COVID-19 Crisis Award - Operations Excellence

It was a time of ambiguity and the unknown when the COVID-19 virus shut down many countries and lockdowns were imposed. Although we are still feeling the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, there were so many difficult scenarios that impacted supply chains throughout the world. Many airlines stopped flying, labor shortages and managing restrictions for protection were just a few of the difficulties supply chain teams faced on a day-to-day basis. 

Essential workers in the supply chain faced daily challenges of meeting the needs of clients and communities to deliver cargo such as medical equipment and PPE to support communities to cope with the influx in demand. Entering facilities with a deadly virus rampaging throughout the world, whilst others stayed at home, required an incredible amount of determination and self-discipline. 

Each and every day, Crane Worldwide's essential workers managed extraordinary circumstances to overcome these supply chain challenges. Working in warehouses and managing incoming and outgoing freight whilst adhering to social distancing measures to protect themselves and their families was no easy feat.  

Yesterday, in Ireland, Crane Worldwide's front-line team were awarded the Operations Excellence award for the work that was completed during the COVID-19 crisis. From managing final mile deliveries of ventilators in Ireland to managing inbound shipments of batteries from China to support the increase in medical equipment being manufactured, the team went above and beyond in unprecedented circumstances.
