In Germany, a new CO2 emissions tax will be implemented via an increase in road tolls that will be effective from1st December 2023.

The "Third Amendment to Road Toll Regulations" will impact heavy goods vehicles on German roads. The actual cost applied to each vehicle will be dependent upon the emission class of the vehicle.

Germany is one of Europe's core transportation hubs and has one of the most efficient road and highway networks in Europe.

The increase in toll fees will increase revenues for the maintenance and expansion of the road infrastructure and aims to reduce congestion and air pollution.

The additional toll fees by the German government will impact road transportation costs throughout the country.
