Crane Worldwide Logistics has received the follow update following the catastrophic situation in Syria and Turkey:
- The government is giving priority to building a container city.
- Factories are providing accommodation services to earthquake victims.
- Ports: Mersin port is operational, and carriers are accepting booking requests. Carriers have informed that there will be delays, postponements and roll over issues.
- The fire has been extinguished in İskenderun Port.
- Roads: The roads have been seriously damaged. Delivery by truck is not possible from/to earthquake zones until further notice.
- Factories: All of factories are still closed in Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş and other nearby cities.
- Export of container houses and prefabricated buildings is banned for 3 months.
The impact of the earthquake in southern Turkey and northern Syria has created destruction of great magnitude and our thoughts are with the many people impacted.
Crane Worldwide Logistics has received the following information regarding current operations in Turkey.
Air Freight: Several major airports in Turkey have been impacted and damaged by the earthquake and are currently closed including Hatay Airport, Gaziantep International airport and Adana airport.
Ocean Freight: All port operation at Ceyhan Marine Terminal in Adana Province are currently suspended. Iskenderun port has reported structural damage and is closed. Mersin port has incurred no damage however the workforce is currently limited at the port and customs offices. Many ocean carriers have closed their port operations in Iskenderun and Mersin and are utilizing offices in Istanbul to support ongoing operations with documentation and operation processes.
Road Freight: Due to structural damage in the region, road closures are impacting road freight operations in the impacted area.
